    Title:               Development Intern

    Reports to:     Director of Development

    Hours:            15-20 hours per week (flexible)

    Wage:           $7.25 / hour

    Time Period:    Fall and/or Spring Terms Available; Opportunity for Possible Advancement to Staff Position TBD

    The mission of The Trail Foundation is to protect, enhance and connect the Butler Trail at Lady Bird Lake for the benefit of all.

     

    The Trail Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented individual to assist the Director of Development with database management, donor acknowledgements, grants, giving campaigns, and fundraising events. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development work and ultimately learn about Austin’s green spaces.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Enter data and help maintain donor database (Neon)

    • Assist with managing donor acknowledgement process

    • Draft new donor acknowledgements and campaign messaging

    • Prepare invoices for outstanding pledges

    • Conduct research on potential donors, corporations, and foundations

    • Assist with grant writing and tracking as appropriate

    • Assist in development and implementation of fundraising campaigns

    • Manage all in-kind donations to be used for fundraising events (Twilight on the Trail, Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita Run, etc.)

    • Assist staff and volunteers during fundraising events such as Twilight on the Trail and Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita Run

    • Assist with mailings, filing, and special projects as needed

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    An ideal candidate will...

    • Be responsible, flexible, hard-working, ethical, and committed to the mission of TTF

    • Have strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and GSuite (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.); experience with Adobe Creative Suite and a database are a plus but not required

    • Have the ability to work independently and take initiative on projects

    Prior interning experience is not a requirement, but we do require you to have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. A candidate should have an interest in The Trail Foundation mission.
