WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Planning Intern will assist the transit service planning group in the development and implementation of cost-effective fixed route bus services and supporting infrastructure.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Work with short-range and service planning team on planning-related projects.
- Represent CapMetro in neighborhood, local, and regional planning forums.
- Coordinate planning activities with other CapMetro departments and external stakeholders.
- Use ArcGIS and other analytical software to conduct transit planning analysis.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and other departments about the process, requirements, and procedures of planning-related projects and processes; investigate and resolve complaints from the public.
- Assists with field reviews for future bus stop construction, safety improvements, or route alignment changes.
- Support CapMetro’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university with a major in Urban or Regional Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related field.
- Experience in transit and/or urban and regional planning.
- Experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (ARC GIS) for mapping production and data analysis.
